At The Lost Kitchen, we are passionate about serving the best quality products at our restaurant and with that goal in mind, we want to invest in elevating our artisanal bakery and pastry offerings. We make everything in-house, using organic and British flours, and ethically sourced produce.
The seed that eventually grew into The Lost Kitchen was planted over 15 years ago when George and Aurora started working with wood-fired food. They realised the importance of supporting local, ethical, small, and organic-farmed produce/rs in the food business. What began as a simple passion for real food and offering something unique in the local environment has now transformed into The Lost Kitchen as we know it today. A year after its opening, The Lost Kitchen started sourcing household goods and homewares for a small shop that supports female-led artisans and entrepreneurs. The range will soon include a dedicated garden boutique.
We are pleased to announce that applications for a Lead Baker/Pastry Chef are open. We welcome candidates with different levels of experience, but we are primarily seeking someone who is passionate about baking and has at least two years of experience. The ideal candidate should also possess competent administrative skills. They should be interested in creating naturally elegant and delicious pastries, celebration cakes and desserts, and expanding their role to include a small selection of European breads and developing upon what we do.
The ideal candidates have:
2 years experience within a bakery setting is preferred, along with Food Safety Level 2 (or equivalent).
A Bakery NVQ Level 2 Diploma is beneficial.
Enjoy supporting your team in making the best desserts, ice creams and cakes.
Focused and detail-oriented with an ability to work with initiative.
Keen to expand your knowledge of mixing and baking artisan breads as well as your knowledge of pastry products, ice cream and confitures, and laminated doughs.
When on the shift you will have the ultimate responsibility of the bakery so must have a positive, problem-solving solving and mature attitude.
Amazing if you already have:
Experience working with vegan and gluten bakes we have a small range but like to do it with taste and care in mind.
Like to get the best out of good quality ingredients.
Knowledge of confitures and preserves
Knowledge or desire to develop ice cream recipes.
Baking/Pastry Certification- preferable but not necessary.
A full UK driver’s license is required as we are in a rural location, though some staff do walk and cycle if they live in the nearest town.
Contracted hours: 45 hours – Full Time
This role benefits from daytime working hours.
Supported by an experienced and creative team, our successful candidate will be the senior baker on shift providing only the most delicious bakes for The Lost Kitchen.
The salary for this position is c £28,000 per annum, plus tips, holiday pay, pension provision
A typical day will include:
The planning and execution of production schedules with senior food managers.
Mix, shape, bake and decorate a range of desserts and cakes with care and consistency.
Place, log and accept stock orders from suppliers accounting for waste as necessary throughout production.
Assist the TLK team as needed in other food production and the packing/management of outgoing orders.
Assist in the training of other staff on bakery lines.
Maintain quality control in the bakery/pastry section, making certain that our menu items are made to spec and with the utmost care- every time.
Managing food safety compliance and helping ensure all relevant production and traceability paperwork is completed as well as helping ensure our company Health and Safety guidelines are practised.

Breakfast Chef /Baker - we’re on the lookout for a passionate pastry chef/baker.
We are currently looking for a dedicated and highly organised Breakfast Chef/Cook to join our growing kitchen team. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with a passion for modern European/Mediterranean cooking to work alongside our breakfast chef/baker. You’ll be cooking delicious, wholesome quality food for a small seasonal menu.
As Breakfast Chef for us, you will be running the breakfast service from 8 am until 11 am.
Ensuring all standards are maintained on made-to-order food. You will be responsible for of prep for the next day and providing the staff lunch.
Previous experience is preferable, training in our dishes and style of cooking will be given, we need you to be reliable and committed to the early starts. Currently, your working days would be across Tuesday to Sunday.

We are a modern European, busy independent local restaurant looking for reliable KPs to work in a great team within an open kitchen: This can be a mixed KP role and a great chance to get into the catering industry, however, if you are happy to do an important job well, and happy within the specific KP the role, that great. Ideally suited for someone who has initiative, is flexible in their work and can come into the front of the house if required.
You’ll join a friendly mixed-aged team, working in a beautiful restaurant.
Your responsibilities will include:
·Ensure basic cleaning jobs are carried out to great standards.
·The washing of pots and pans.
·Cleaning food preparation areas and equipment, in addition to crockery and cutlery.
·Assisting with food and equipment deliveries.
·Occasionally involve simple food prep/ helping waiting staff serve a tables
·Keeping work surfaces, walls and floors clean and sanitised as required.

Front of House Manager - vacancy filled
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and engaging hospitality professional who can help take The Lost Kitchen’s hospitality business to the next level. We have set our sights on offering exceptional service & experience to our customers in every aspect of what we do. We are proud of our fantastic wood-fired menu inspired by the seasons and reflective of artisan produce from the South West, as well as gems from further afield. We are based in a modern and attractive converted barn space with beautiful views just outside of Tiverton.
Passionate about using as many quality producers local to the restaurant as we can. We are innovative and circular in our approach to food and waste, for example, our coffee grounds are going into developing our mushroom growing house, and fertiliser for the garden bed in which we grow garden menu ingredients.
We have a dynamic and forward-thinking management team in place, and we are looking for the perfect person to finish off that team and help us reach our goals of offering exceptional service through our food and beverage business.

Experience in a front-of-house role and a hospitality setting is a must and an understanding of, and appreciation for small independent producers, wood-fired cooking, ethical produce, seasonality in food, and sales in an F&B environment is a definite advantage. This said personality and professionalism are key in this role as we are happy to work together to support the right person in developing their skills.
This role requires the individual to be exceptionally skilled at welcoming, serving and interacting with customers, we want to maintain a happy work environment. Know how to manage and work in a team. The front-of-house manager may also need to intervene in any conflict that may arise or resolve a range of problems. Be a good manager, know how to make the right decision and anticipate needs to meet profitability and business model objectives.
